Concierge Services in Paris for Everyone: MTouch Paris available!
New personal mobile assistant launched for visitors to Paris
Paris (February 1, 2010)
Latitude Sedona, a producer of innovative mobile applications and Experience Paris, one of the largest suppliers and creators of city tours and unique experiences in Paris have introduced mTouch Paris, the first full service mobile assistant for Paris visitors available free from the iphone store.
The new application offers a heightened level or reactivity and speed for the savvy traveler and provides a clear and an expanded range of easy to search activities for the first time visitor. All bookings can be done immediately and securely through the iPhone, and if needed with the assistance of a local English speaking team, all at no charge.
The mobile assistant can be used in 2 ways :
- Before the trip: To get ideas, prices, and a selection of up-do-date activities and news about Paris.
- During the trip: To get on-the-spot accurate, fast, and 24×7 ready to book activities that have been hand picked by one of the best team of travel consultants and Paris experts.
“There has been a growing trend of new concierge services providing clients with personalized service for a monthly fee for the privilege” said Larry Davis, the founder of Manstouch travel and a partner in mTouch Paris. But the new paradigm is about enabling everyone to become their own concierge by providing them access to trusted, reliable, available activities while being their guardian angel, adds Juliette Leygues, one of the co-founders of Latitude Sedona.
The market for localized services is booming as witnessed by the dynamism of travel applications and content. Larry added, “As travelers adopt more and more smartphones and have instant internet access while on the go, the demand for quality and reliable selection, as well as convenience and flexibility are paramount”.
The application is available on Apple App Stores worldwide for

Use of the “Core Location” feature v/s Advertising: Apple sets the rules of the game
As mentionned by Arnaud, in Mac4ever’s blog,
the Core Location feature, in the iphone, to enhance applications with location-based information such as local weather, nearby restaurants, ATMs..will not be accepted by Apple if used for adverising revenue purpose:
“If your app uses location-based information primarily to enable mobile advertisers to deliver targeted ads based on a user’s location, your app will be returned to you by the App Store Review Team for modification before it can be posted to the App Store”.
Apple n’entend pas laisser les développeurs utiliser les fonctions de géolocalisation offertes par Core Location sur l’iPhone à des fins publicitaires

“Paroles d’élus” talks about Mobil’iti, the Clisson Valley iphone app!
Check out here if you read french, this article from the Orange initiative, “Paroles d’Elus”, gives a lot of informations about the smartphone itinerary guide, Mobil’iti and its environement, the objectives of the project for the local authority “la vallée de Clisson”, its execution, first results and perspectives!
Mobil’iti is one exemple of the use of our plateform Latitude, which aggregates either rich media contents, produced by latitude-gallimard and practical touristic informations from the local authority ( connection to their touristic database, and, soon, with their events threads). It could also agregate social media content with conversations around the territory, or exisitng content from touristic guides publishers.
For the moment, the content created takes the form of a website ( under the series Latitude Gallimard), as an inspirational communication tool for Clisson, and is also distributed as an iphone applicationmobil\’iti, the clip, in its french and english version, as a guide to discover the Clisson Valley for visitors on location ( or people around the world willing to visit virtually the area.
These content belongs to the local authority, and could be declined as well as a GPS service, audioguides, an androîd or a blackberry application…
Check out this blog, le blog de la vallée de Clisson, it was opened by the Tourist Office team, and gives intersting testimonies of their experience in offering such a new type of guide to their visitors ( ( 5 iphones are available for rent, with the Mobil’iti guide).
Check out the FFR “topoguide” itinerary guide on iphone…it was made out of the same application
